Making “Putah-Putah”
Gomah, Quita, and Alice prepare the swamp for rice. First they turn over the soil with hoes (they call this “hooking”). The next step involves them making “putah-putah” or mud. Sort of like treading grapes in a winepress… only we’re using swamp water and mud.
This and many more projects keep us busy…
Other projects include:
- A Palava Hut Classroom… keeps us dry in the rains and cool in the sun.
- Apiary and Apiary Trellis and Fence… provide protection and food (passion fruit vines and Mexican heather) for the bees.
- Snails… finger food for fish… shells for chickens.
- Compost piles… a key part of Farming God’s Way
- Fences, screens, and farm road… keeping things straight!
- Pineapple beds, swamp rice, and full planting sections
- Natural Medicine and Nutrition Garden… pictured are Amaranth, Neem, and Artemesia.
