Teaching… Beekeeping… and the Biblical Worldview
Recently we trained members of the SKT Community in Bong Co. SKT stands for “Sargent Kollie Town”. Pastor Stephen, of Emmanuel Baptist Church hosted the workshop, for which we are grateful. The newly trained members expressed an eagerness to start right away with their new skills! Their testimony during the closing encouraged us. They remembered key points of emphaisis such as the need to take this new knowledge and teach it to others. As we can always be telling them… “Beekeeping knowledge is na’ greedy knowledge-oh!” Please pray for part 2 of this workshop scheduled for our teaching farm in Gbarnga. During that workshop, they’ll get to harvest some honey… then they’ll really be excited!
Preaching… the Gospel… and a Life Changing Meeting
One of the may blessings of hosting a workshop is the opportunity to worship in a local church. While our biblically integrated workshops are an important part of the disciple making process, we always emphasize the importance of the local church to the attendees. Some of the attendees are members of local churches, and many are not. Therefore, it is not uncommon to be in a village where, although many of the people might identify as a Christian, they have no understanding of the gospel. And as you would expect, their lives show no evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. This is why we were grateful that, the Sunday following this workshop, we worshipped with Emmanuel Baptist Church in SKT.
The life changing meeting was about that “wee little man” Zaccheus. I love this story about how Jesus can meet the greatest of sinners, and totally transform their life. There is a humbling that comes with preaching the gospel… with seeing yourself in the story. But there is also a great joy and hope that comes with preaching the gospel. The Lord never changes… the same Jesus that transformed Zaccheus, is the same Lord that saved me, and is changing me… and He is the same Lord that is still… seeking… and saving… the lost. Hallelujah, what a Savior!
